Our band is called Sunny Island, and our first album "The Shortest Distance Between Two People" will be on stores in May 15 this year. Our band is made up my friend Leah Miller (drums) my lifetime friend Jake Stratton(keyboard and vocals) and myself, Haylie Dixie (lead vocals and guitar). Sunny Island plays a mix of electronic pop with a slight of bossanova because of my voice.
I've known Jake for all of my life, we've been friends since I can remember. He played piano when he was just 4 years old, it was his passion. I wanted something like that, so my mother bought me a guitar, and I've been playing it since I was 10. I remember Jake and I would start playing some songs, and sing along. Those were the old times. Then, I met Leah in high school. She was a very stylish girl and would have some drumsticks in hand all the time. She made rhythms between classes and people would just stare at her, feeling the beat. She is absolutely awesome. So, Jake and I recorded some demos and decided to show her our songs. She listened to them and liked our music, but she knew something was missing; it was her beat.

Then, we recorded some songs together and gave ourselves a name, Sunny Island, because we live in a very sunny island in reality. Well, we just liked how it sounded. We started tu play in bars, clubs and parties. People was getting to know us in our city and state. One day, we played in a very popular bar -not everyone can play live in this club- and a man that worked for a label from L.A. heard us and fell completely in love with our music, and fresh style. So, we made a deal, and here we are. Hope we have a very long history in music.
