Slumdog Millionaire Questions

*Greed, corruption and the misuse of power are highlighted in the film through a variety of characters. How are those who have money and power glamorized in this film? What happens to the victims?

The power ones in this film were the guys that had all these poor kids asking in the streets for money and that were rich with this huge chains of gold and every time with money available. They seem like killers and for example the kids, to make them ask for money they take their eye off, and that way people will be like aww poor kid and give them more money. They hurt innocent people just because of power and money. Or the girls when they grow up, the rich guys made them like dancers but not the normal ones…

*In one pivotal scene, the show’s host tells Jamal his own story about coming from the slums. He then gives Jamal the wrong answer written on the mirror in the rest room. Why did he give Jamal the wrong answer? What did Jamal do?

He gave him the wrong answer because he saw that he was winning one time and again and again, so I think he kind of wanted to stop it because the money was too much and he couldn’t handle too much power for Jamal, it might be jealousy or a way to prove that he was cheating or something of that kind. I think was because Jamal every question was getting it correct, with his experiences in life that make him think of the correct answer.

* Describe how loss, chance, luck, suffering, and street smarts are also characters behind the scenes. The film explores gain and loss side by side. Triumphs are tempered with loss. Where do you see this evident?

In every part of the movie I think there is loss, for example when the mother of Salim & Jamal dies. Chance when they just run for their life during all that scandal of killing people like animals. Luck that they weren’t kill or that they found the way out of their crappy life with the rich guy overpowering them. Suffering when Jamal was taken apart from Latika and they were likes really good friends well, more than just friends, so their suffering goes.
I mostly saw that all is combined from all the experiences of the kids, all the killing among their life when they separate and see each other again.

  2. i agree with you in everything, it's true. Those rich guys hurting innocent kids just to gain money? that's harhs, I mean they don't every feel bad for doing these things to people. All they think about is money. And what is worst is that this really happens in real life, not just in the movies.

  3. i agree with you vero, but in the second answer ithink it was also because Jamal was going to be the new person getting the highest number of correct answers, so he was jealous and nervous.:)
